  1. Sweet's filings show planned sales, about $82 million since 2011, and, from 2015, monthly purchases from Accenture through an employee program, about $12 million in all.
  2. Until Oct. 26 they showed no purchase on the open market. That day she bought about $3.0 million of stock there, more than she put into the program in any full year.
  3. In June, as the stock fell to its 2026 low, Accenture bought back its own shares at an average of $127.63. Sweet's average on Oct. 26 was $245.99.
  4. Shares bought on the market don't count toward the stock Accenture requires its top executives to hold, its proxy says. Her filing gives no reason for the purchase.
  5. Next: Accenture plans $5.5 billion of buybacks in its fiscal 2027, which began Sept. 1.

The purchase: Julie Sweet, the chair and chief executive of Accenture, bought 12,200 of its shares on the open market on Oct. 26, at $244.59 to $246.54 each. That is about $3.0 million in all, her filing shows.Form 4 It reached the SEC before the market opened on Oct. 28. A director, Paula Price, bought 800 shares the same day, about $200,000 worth, her filing shows.Form 4

The record: A Form 4 is the report a company's officers and directors must file within two business days of most trades in its stock. Sweet has filed 299 since April 2010, shortly after she became Accenture's general counsel.Form 3Proxy KeyVex read all of them. Sixty-nine report sales, about $82 million of stock from April 2011 to Feb. 10, 2026, each under a Rule 10b5-1 plan, a schedule of sales set in advance.Form 4 They also report 141 monthly purchases from Accenture itself since 2015, through its Voluntary Equity Investment Program, about $12 million in all.Form 4

Why it matters: Until Oct. 26, none of her filings in 16 years reported a purchase on the open market. The new one does, and it marks no trading plan.Form 4 At about $3.0 million, it is more than she put into the employee program in any full year; her biggest year was 2022, at about $2.2 million.Chart data

Whether AI shrinks consulting work is not settled. "You can't infill with new business fast enough," Nate Singer, chief executive of Heron Intelligence, a due-diligence firm, told the Financial Times before Investor Day. "You would think headcount would decline," said Bryan Keane, a Citi analyst. Accenture's executives hope AI will bring years of work advising clients on it, the FT reported.FT via Irish Times

What she paid, and what Accenture paid

Accenture itself bought heavily this year, at much lower prices. From June 1 to Aug. 31 it bought 17.6 million of its own shares at an average of $131.89, its annual report shows. In June alone it bought 9.6 million, at $127.63.10-K KeyVex reported on Oct. 4 that the same $2.3 billion bought far more shares than the same sum did last fall.

Sweet paid about $246 a share, nearly twice the company's June average. Paula Price paid $249.81.Form 4Form 4 Earlier this year, in January and February, Sweet sold 13,251 shares under her plan, at about $236 to $291.Form 4Form 4Form 4

The shares don't count toward her ownership requirement. Accenture's named executive officers must hold stock worth at least six times their base pay. Its proxy says they "may only satisfy this ownership requirement through the holdings they acquire pursuant to the Company's share programs." It also says each of them already held more than required.Proxy

How we got these numbers

  • KeyVex downloaded every Form 4 Julie Sweet has filed, 299 from April 6, 2010, to Oct. 28, 2026, from the SEC's list of her filings, and read each one's transaction codes. Code P, a purchase on the open market or in a private deal, appears only in the Oct. 28 filing, which describes trades at market prices. Code S, a sale, appears in 242 transactions across 69 filings, each with a footnote saying the sale was under a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan. Her purchases from Accenture through its Voluntary Equity Investment Program are reported as code A, with a footnote naming the program: 141 of them from February 2015 to Oct. 5, 2026, 46,633 shares.
  • Dollar figures are shares times the price each filing reports, summed by the year of the trade: $82.37 million of sales (378,367 shares) and $12.09 million of program purchases. Her Oct. 26 purchase was 2,100 shares at $245.1063 and 10,100 at $246.1701, weighted averages of trades from $244.59 to $246.54: $3,001,041.24, or $245.99 a share.
  • Accenture's buyback prices are from its 10-K: average price paid a share, the total cash outlay divided by the shares acquired by purchase, redemption or employee forfeiture. Its fiscal year ends Aug. 31.
  • Prices are end-of-day closes as traded. "Worst day" compares each close with the one before, over every trading day since Accenture's shares began trading in July 2001. The Filings switch on the chart shows the filing markers from KeyVex's Accenture page, a selection of congressional trades, insider trades, Form 144 notices, 8-Ks and lobbying filings: not every filing, and not only those tied to this story.
