What is KeyVex?

KeyVex is a unified API and MCP server for US public financial and government disclosures. It spans congressional and insider trades, SEC filings, campaign finance, lobbying, federal contracts, sanctions, macro indicators, and more. 60+ datasets from official government sources, normalized into one schema and queryable by any AI agent or HTTP client.

Is KeyVex really free?

Yes. The public MCP endpoint at mcp.keyvex.com is open to everyone, with no account and no API key. A free account adds an API key with full-depth records across all 60+ datasets, 60 calls a day, and one year of history. Paid plans raise the call quota and extend the history window.

Where does the data come from?

Directly from official US government sources, including SEC EDGAR, Senate eFD, the House Clerk, the FEC, the US Treasury, USAspending, CFTC, OFAC, BLS, FRED, FDA, GovInfo, and more. KeyVex normalizes and indexes the records; every record stays traceable to its source filing.

How fresh is the data?

Each source is re-polled on its own cadence: SEC Form 4 every 30 minutes, most SEC filings hourly, 13F every 4 hours, congressional trades and most other sources daily. Some agencies publish in batches, so the newest available record is bounded by the source's own release schedule. The full schedule is in the docs.

How do I connect Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor?

Add https://mcp.keyvex.com as a custom connector (in Claude: Settings → Connectors) and start asking questions, with no sign-in needed. Step-by-step guides for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf, and VS Code are in the docs.

What's the difference between the MCP server and the REST API?

Same data, same 60+ tools. The MCP server is for AI clients, so your agent discovers and calls the tools natively. The REST API at api.keyvex.com is plain HTTP with an OpenAPI spec, for code, scripts, and dashboards. One API key works on both.

Does KeyVex give investment advice or trading signals?

No. KeyVex doesn't give advice, signals, or recommendations. It gives you the tools to build your own personalized trading and research platform. Give your AI a KeyVex key, and it can build anything you can imagine.

Can I use KeyVex data in my product?

Yes. The Business tier comes with commercial usage under a non-redistribution agreement. See the Terms of Service for specifics.

What happens when I hit my daily limit?

The API returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header. Free-key quotas reset at midnight Eastern; Pro and Premium raise the daily cap.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. The free tier needs no card, just an email or Google sign-in. The Pro plan comes with a 7-day free trial and can be cancelled anytime.
